The Rangers purchased his contract from Saskatoon Of the Western Hockey league when the Rangers entered the NHL. He won the scoring title 3 times in Saskatoon. Along with his brother Bun and Frank Boucher, they formed the bread line. One of the highest scoring lines in NHL history. He recorded the first goal in Rangers history. The four time NHL All Star's biggest goal came when he scored the overtime winner in the finals to give the Rangers the Stanley Cup. It was the Rangers second championship, as Cook captained the Rangers to the 1928 Stanley Cup as well. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1952, Cook passed away in 1986.

Phil Esposito

Centerman who held the greatest scoring record of them all before Wayne Gretzky came along and broke it, 76 goals in a single season in 1970-71. Espo won the Art Ross Trophy five times, the Hart Trophy twice and the Lester B. Pearson Award twice. He was a ten-time All-Star and represented Canada in the 1972 Summit Series, the 1976 Canada Cup and the 1977 World Championship. While a member of the Boston Bruins, he scored 40 or more goals in seven straight seasons and 50 or more in five straight seasons. In his 76-goal season, he also recorded an amazing 76 assists for a league record at the time of 152 points. On the international front, Phil starred for Team Canada in the classic Summit Series as the leading individual scorer - with seven goals and six assists - and inspirational leader of the team that defeated the Soviets in the best eight-game series ever played. He joined brother Tony, who was teaming with Ken Dryden as the Canadian netminder on the legendary team. Espo played 1282 career games, scored 717 goals and tallied 873 assists.

Mark Messier

On Nov. 4, 2003 in New York, the 42-year old center scored twice in the Rangers' 3-0 win against the Dallas Stars to take sole possession of second place on the NHL's all-time scoring list. The Blueshirts' captain first tied Gordie Howe's 1,850 career points with a second-period tally against Dallas and passed the Hall of Famer when he notched an empty-netter with five seconds remaining to move into the illustrious No. 2 slot with his 1,851st point. Throughout his storied career, Messier has been associated with success. He has won six Stanley Cups in his 25 years in the NHL and has amassed more than 680 goals and more than 1,160 assists in more than 1,600 games. Messier also is second on the all-time playoff games, points, goals and assists lists, compiling 295 points in 236 games off 109 goals and 186 assists. He will always be known as an Oiler but I will always remember him as the man who brought a Stanley Cup to the Rangers in my lifetime!
